A Complete Guide to DBT Skills

A 24-lesson video program designed for at-home learning and implementation

What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
and Who Can Benefit?

DBT was created by Marsha Linehan originally as a treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD). It has since been adapted and proven effective for a variety of other conditions (such as: depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, substance use disorders) and problematic behaviors associated with such conditions.

You may benefit from learning DBT skills if you struggle with:

  • Managing overwhelming, intense, or out-of-control emotional experiences

  • Inhibiting impulsive urges and self-destructive or otherwise problematic behaviors

  • Getting your emotional needs met, communicating effectively, or feeling respected in relationships

  • Shame, guilt, low self-esteem, or excessive judgment toward yourself and/or others

Nicole Strauss, Ph.D. is a Los Angeles based clinical psychologist who is licensed to practice in California (PSY 34677). Nicole has several years of training and experience in DBT in inpatient, community outpatient, and private practice settings, including providing comprehensive DBT treatment, leading DBT skills groups, and providing individual DBT therapy.

Nicole is a highly sensitive and intuitive clinician with personal development experience that is relevant to the content of this course, including learning to: self-validate, overcome challenges with being a sensitive person in this rational (and sometimes hollow) world we live in, overcome shame and guilt, set boundaries, and step into the energy of self-confidence and radiance. Nicole is passionate about guiding others on a similar journey, and believes deeply in the power of DBT skills to provide the foundational ground for living a more easeful and joyful life.
